Types of Vessels
Overview
Modern seagoing commercial vessels come in all shapes and sizes and are designed to carry a wide variety of cargoes. This article provides a brief overview of the main types of vessels that sail the world’s seas and gives some history on how each has evolved.
SUEZMAX
Our own vessels have been designed with the help of Punjtanmaritime’s own design department in accordance with the most advanced technology available. The result is dramatically improved energy efficiency, which will, among other things, reduce fuel and bunker consumption by up to 15 percent compared with most efficient, conventionally designed Suezmax tankers currently in operation.
Medium range
The MRs has since the mid 1990’s been one of the cornerstones in Punjtanmaritime fleet composition and an important segment in our goals to develop and utilize the basics in tanker shipping but yet an important step to create a more sustainable shipping concept where the focus has been different in times. The combined of basic tanker operation but still with a flexible design to offer our customers optionality with competitive freight. A MR product tanker is between 45,000-55,000 dwt size range with coated tanks to prevent corrosion and facilitate cleaning when switching between cargoes. The vessels are all equipped with 12 cargo tanks of max 4,500 m³ capacity and can carry, petroleum products, veg oils and crude oil.
IMOIIMAX
Medium range
The IMOIIMAX is an important step in our common pursuit to create a more sustainable shipping concept combined with a flexible design to offer our customers better business solutions at competitive freight. The IMOIIMAX is designed to carry IMO 2 classed cargoes as well as clean and dirty products. The vessels are all equipped with eighteen cargo tanks of max 3,000 m³ capacity as well as a nitrogen based inert gas system.
Methanol tankers
Medium range
The methanol-powered 49,990 DWT methanol vessels in the Proman Punjtanmaritime joint venture are state-of-the-art, IMOIIMeMAX dual-fuel mid-range (MR) tankers. The vessels mark a significant step forward as the JV continues its ambition to support the development of methanol as a proven marine fuel and the role it can play as part of global shipping’s urgent transition to a more sustainable future. These vessels are all equipped with eighteen cargo tanks of max 3,000 m³ capacity and can carry, easy chemicals incl methanol, petroleum products and veg oils.
Intermediate tankers
Specializes in managing intermediate-size tankers, transporting edible oils, chemicals, acids and CPP East of Suez with tailored, efficient solutions. Backed by a joint venture between Punjtanmaritime, Golden Agri, and Baycrest, we ensure optimized profitability through strategic partnerships and prudent operations.
